One of the most difficult parts of moving to a new city is leaving those familiar “go-to” places behind and finding new businesses and shops to patronize. Is there a good dry cleaner nearby? Where’s the best coffee shop? You’ll want to locate the nearest place to pick up your favorite bottle of wine and where to run for a pint of ice cream. Finding those right places for the “small stuff” quickly will help you get settled in to the new home and establish contacts. Choose some establishments near your new home that you feel drawn to and begin to frequent those locations so you can get a feel for the staff and service. If after a few weeks, it doesn’t seem to be a fit, choose a new place. That’s the beauty of being in a new city . . . new options and exciting new experiences.
