Moving Rights and Responsibilities

Your A. Arnold moving team provides a full range of services, including packing, loading and delivering your inventory to your new home. But to make sure your moving experience is as satisfying as possible, they need you to do your part before—and on—moving day. Below is a list of responsibilities you will be held accountable for during your relocation.

Restricted Articles

A. Arnold is forbidden from transporting certain articles. In order to ensure your relocation is a smooth process, it's important that you know the rules before moving day. While you're packing, remember to be mindful of the following restrictions.

Your A. Arnold team cannot move:

  • Perishables
  • Propane Tanks
  • Combustibles
  • Flammables
  • Motor or Lamp Oils
  • Oil based paints
  • Fertilizers
  • Aerosols
  • Bleaches

Be sure to arrange for disposal or removal of these items before moving day.

In addition, certain small valuables and irreplaceable items will be your responsibility to move. These include:

  • Money
  • Jewelry
  • Collectables
  • Laptops
  • MP3 Players
  • Cell phones
  • Medications
  • Weapons
  • Ammunition

Before the move, make sure to double check drawers and storage containers for these small articles to make sure they make the move with you, not with your A. Arnold team.

Packing Effectively

Certain items take special preparation to be relocated safely. Some may only be able to be properly packed with the help of a specialist. Before A. Arnold arrives, it will be your responsibility to:

  • Retrieve items from crawl spaces and from attics without floors.
  • Empty gas and oil from lawn mowers and other gasoline engines being moved. Wash out gas cans to avoid fumes.
  • Remove any items affixed to walls or ceilings that you wish to relocate, or to arrange for a third party specialist to remove them.
  • Prepare all televisions, stereos and other electronics by disconnecting removable antennas and unplugging power units. Check home entertainment devices for DVDs and other removable items that could break in transit, and pack them properly.
  • Back up computer hard drives and check drives for CD-ROM's and DVDs.
  • Schedule a specialist to properly prepare Plasma and other high-value specialty monitors for safe transport. Your A. Arnold moving team cannot prepare them for you.
  • Disassemble furniture that has been assembled using particle board. Particle board furniture is manufactured to be assembled only once, so it is your responsibility to disassemble the piece and reassemble it at your destination.
  • Clean trash cans and barbeque grills.
  • Place all items that are not relocating in a designated area, such as a closet or a bathroom, one day prior to moving.

An Important Note if Your Vehicle is Moving

If A. Arnold is transporting your car, truck or other vehicle, it's important that you DO NOT pack it with additional articles. If the vehicle is being relocated via car carrier, the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) prohibits it from carrying other items. Failure to follow DOT regulations can result in a heavy fine.

Before the move, empty your vehicle gas tank to 1/4th full if it is being transported. Remember to hand a set of keys to the vehicle to your A. Arnold driver.

At Origin and Destination

On moving day, either you or someone representing you must be present at the completion of article inventory. You or your representatives are required to:

  • Read and review the inventories completely for accuracy
  • Confirm article description, condition and piece count
  • Fill out high value inventory for items of extraordinarily high value ($100.00 per pound per article), to be signed by both you and your driver
  • Sign and date inventories
  • Perform one final check of all rooms and storage areas to confirm no items have been left behind

Any items left behind will be your responsibility to retrieve.

When A. Arnold meets you at your destination, the driver should provide you with inventory pages to check off the shipment. You are required to:

  • Confirm, sign, date and check off each inventory number
  • Confirm condition of each article
  • Note any missing or damaged items. Failure to so do may jeopardize your right to file a claim.
  • Sign, and have your driver sign, any High Value inventories

Special Services

You will be given a minimum amount for the valuation of your shipment prior to the move. If you require additional valuation, please advise us immediately. Any additional cost that is not covered by your company will be cash on delivery (COD) to you.

Any additional special services that you request or require on your move that is not covered will be cash on delivery (COD) at the time of deliver, unless pre-approved in writing. A cashier's check must be paid to the driver prior to unloading. Please get the amount from your love counselor in time to get the check prior to delivery.
